Cover of Journal of Applied Physics (AIP)

Yesterday, 8pm, we had the pleasure to find out that our new publication with Jörn Bonse (BAM Berlin) has been selected to make the cover of Journal of Applied Physics, Issue 7, Volume 116, journal of the American Institute of Physics (AIP).
We hope that this work will be useful to take control over the formation of ultra small (100 nm) periodic surface structures induced by an intense flux of photons of 800 nm wavelength, and a spot size of several micrometers.
The paper includes a new model which allows to explain how a such small period can be obtained by excitation of Surface Plasmon Polaritons, and will be applied to other conditions in order to bring this process to a new stage.
T. J.-Y. Derrien is now applying to a grant of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) from the European Commission to continue his research on laser processing of solids using intense lasers at the HiLASE Centre of the Institute of Physics (Academy of Science of the Czech Republic).
